A slightly disappointing week in terms of mileage following my exploits in the Celebrate Israel race last Sunday.  The overall stats were as follows:

I did 3 runs in total, which is less than I need to do according to my training plan,  I did however manage a nice long run today which I felt very comfortable with.  Next week, I will definitely stick to the plan!

Here are the details of each of the runs:
Run 28

Run 29

Run 30

As part of my training, as well as potentially setting me up for guaranteed entry to the NYC Marathon next year, I have entered a number of races in the build up to November 4th!  The first of these races happened yesterday and it was the 4 mile ‘Celebrate Israel‘ race in Central Park.  It […]

I had a fairly quiet week this week.  After my long run on Monday, I took a couple of rest days as I did have some stiffness.  My first race is coming up on Sunday – the Celebrate Israel 4 miler in Central Park which I am hugely excited about!  Im going into that with […]

May has drawn to a close, so it is time to look at how I did over the last month!  In my last Progress report I had seen some pretty good improvements from my first miserable run.  Here are the numbers from May I’m feeling hugely positive about these numbers.  I pretty much doubled the […]

I had a busy week at work and haven’t been able to update after each run.  Instead of the usual post run report I will post them all here in order.  The highlights for me were my first 5k where I averaged under 8 min/mile pace and my first time running 10 miles or more! Here […]

Run 20 – Hot Stuff!

Long run today and it sure was hot! It has just hit home that the bulk of my marathon training will take place during the long, hot and humid NYC summer and this displeases me greatly!  I don’t deal particularly well with the heat and will sweat profusely at the first sign of the mercury […]

After three unexpected rest days (work issues, child care issues etc!) I finally set out for a nice run tonight.  I once again planned on taking it easy and I certainly managed that.  I never felt any real discomfort the whole run and was very surprised to finish in about the same time as I […]

According to my Training Plan today is the day for my 10k long run.  I decided after seeking advice from my sister who is a seasoned runner as well as some comments on the blog, that I would try to keep increasing the distance each week for my initial 10k plan.  Last week, I added […]

Run 17 – Train slow, race fast (hopefully)

May 12, 2012

After a rest day yesterday, I planned to go out again this morning with this article in mind.  So far, I have pretty much been giving it everything I have (not much at the moment) every time I have gone for a run.  This has typically left me exhausted at the end of my planned […]

Run 16 – Work calling

As I was working from home today, I decided to take advantage and set out for a quick loop of the park on my lunch hour.  I wasn’t feeling particularly great (note to self: Indian food pre-run is not a good idea) but figured I would be fine once I got going. My plan was […]
